RIDING INSTRUCTION:
(From the Sellers ...) There are many stables which provide excellent coaching near by.  Jessie's show horse trained (July 2009) at Westar Farms just off Dwyer Hill Road on Fernbank; our family has been with them for almost 20 years...starting as young children and moving on to the National Circuit. This facility is about 10 - 15 minutes away.  There are also great childrens' and adult programs at Fiddlers Green Stables in Stittsville.  Within a 1/2 hour drive, there are our great Olympic riders, Ian Millar in Perth and Jill Henselwood near Burritts Rapids. Both of them have excellent schools, training facilities and conduct  amazing clinics.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS:
There is a private school in the area called the
Christian Cavalry with Kintergarden to Grade 6 located in Franktown about 8 km away.  It is said to be a very fine school with children attending from Perth, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place, Richmond and Stittsville. There consistently seems to be articles about the children who do amazing fundraising each year.
 
The Seller's children attended the Catholic
School system in Carleton Place which comes highly recommended. Both attended St. Mary's primary school and Notre Dame High School.  These schools are small and have excellent programs including sports, arts and music.  Children are extremely motivated by the teachers and guidance staff. Bus pickup is at approx. 8 AM and drop off at the property around 3:30 - 4 PM.
 
The public primary school is located in Blacks Corners (about 15 minutes away) and is located next to the large sports complex which includes 10+ soccer pitches with huge junior tournaments, skating and hockey training and ball diamonds. (Recently this complex was awarded a large sum of money by the Ontario government for additional pitches.) This school is also small and includes day care services and busing.  
 
The public High school is located in Carleton Place and is next to the rowing/canoeing club at the beach.  It is a larger school but also has a good reputation. 

GROCERY SHOPPING / BANKING/ ETC.:
Carleton Place is just 20 minutes away and continues to expand as the major big box stores move in. The town has great restaurants and many smaller specialty shops. (If you visit Carleton Place, stop at Balligiblins Restaurant on Bridge Street and youomight be able to see some of Jessie's paintings on display.)  The town seems to focus on the arts with many festivals, restaurant wine tours, etc.
